Does anyone know? My garden is covered with invasive ivy. If I pulled it out, then covered the garden with a good load (a few inches) of quality top soil, would the ivy come back?
Same with moss on the lawn. (More moss than grass). Is it possible to cover the lawn with fresh soil (a couple of inches) then just reseed or is it better to power rake and reseed or. . .?

Hi Redcedar, I too am from BC and oh do I know about moss problems in our lawns. You really need to get yourself on a good lawn care program. For starters you should aerate you lawn about every two years, lime every spring, followed by moss control. The moss control will turn the moss black and then you need to rake it out. Now you want to overseed your lawn making sure you are using a good seed. If you have moss my guess it is in the shady area of your lawn so be sure to buy grass seed which is for shady lawns, I also suggest that you use Scott's starter fertilizer on the overseeded areas and Turfbuilder everywhere else. You want to be sure to use Dolopril which is the best lime on the market right now. It starts acting almost immediately, and will help get your soil to a more neutral state which will help deter the moss. The lime will also be beneficial in helping your soil utilize the fertilizer. Go to Google Search and type in Dolopril and you should find a website with info. As for your ivy in the garden you will have to be pretty persistant with it but I am sure you will rid yourself of it. Hope this helps
