I live in sunny calif and have a morning glory in a big pot growing up a fence. It has always done well there. It has just started growing back from the winter and all the new foliage is being savagely eaten! I put out snail pellets. I have not seen any bugs? What could it be? I have petunias at the base that are also being eaten. Any help would be appreciated.

Check for little tiny, tiny green worms. I believe they are called Cabbage worms.?? (I get those on my columbines, they get devoured.) They might blend right in with the foliage...???????
or snails at night time.......
