I have a flower bed just in front of my house that doesn't drain well because of the lay of the land. We had a landscaper come and draw up a plan for us, but apparently he didn't understand the soil conditions and had us plant all drought tolerant plants. We've had lots of rain this spring and the plants are yellowing, especially the verbena. I don't know whether to pull everything up (this is the third try!) or to simply replace my verbena and see what happens with the other plants. Also, I'm not sure what plants will tolerate this type of soil condition. Any suggestions??

We have lots of soggy soil around our house. Cannas like soggy soil, though I don't know exactly what zone NC is in. It might be too cold for cannas. Of course what I'd do is go to the local greenhouse or Walmart and look at the seed racks for seed packets that say, "Prefers very moist soil" or something like that. Best wishes for all the jaundiced babies!
