I have tomatos that are developing soft spots that later turn into rotten fruit at the site. No bugs are evident until damage appears and the ants have a field day. What is the problem? Help me plese. Plants: 2 | From: AOL | Registered: Jun 2003

I have the one called Septoria Spot. http://www.oznet.ksu.edu/dp_hfrr/extensn/problems/earlblht.htm in my dirt. It was here when I came the first year, but I did two things, one I put newspaper down the one year and another the landscape fabric,.....It keeps the dirt off of the plants which excellerates it up the stem of the plant. It holds the blight off long enough to for the plant has about 3 or 4 grouping of ripening tomatoes and my season isn't long enough to ripen any more so it's not a huge problem for me...... But this year in addition to the landscape fabric I'm trying something new in the watering.... I'm taking empty juice jugs and cutting the bottom out of it and at planting time I will bury the juice jug at least 1/2 way into the dirt and water from that area so it infiltrates into the dirt and keeps it from splashing the plant.????????????? Sounds feasable to me, we'll see..... Trial and Error!!! My sister had the other one and I'm rather glad to have this one because it's the lesser of two evils!!! Weezie
