I have six rows 50 feet long of sprouting corn, several Rufous-sided Towhees have been scratching out and eating the new sprouting corn. I have set up several sticks with strips of foil that blow around in the wind, but have no effect on them. I have been able to scare them off with a bb gun ( not hitting them ). But can't be there all the time. Does anybody have any suggestion on keeping them out of the corn?

Hi Frank,
I keep the ruined cd's and or one's I get in the mail to join aol or earth link and I take those and hang them.....they say the reflection is a little help to deter them, maybe move them around. And I've heard of flashie streamers.......movement and zapping reflections of sun startle the birds???????
music, or one of those motion detected water squirters.????
Hope this helps........

Here's the site for that scare crow motion detector that squirts water when activated.
