Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to share pics of my newest carrion plant (stepelia) bloom. This one is really magnificent, it smells horrible and looks like fresh meat! No wonder the flies love it!

Hey Hollywood! Great Pix as usual. I have been rather busy, sorry I haven't got much time. When I get a chance I want to go through all your pix. Saw you added some for me and just love them to death. I am drooling and still nabbing ideas. You are sooo creative. Will yak at ya more later. Trying to get my mom downsized from a huge home and 50 years of marriage into a small apartment for independent living. To top it off she is obsessive compulsive and saves every stinken little piece of paper. At least she can help sort...good thing because I might of just got a back hoe with a scoop and just scooped it in the trash!!! LOL Later and keep up the pix I'm looking forward to all the new additions. [kitty]

JC,
That's a pretty neat looking flower...
Not too sure I wanna smell it though...... [Razz]

You need to get a Datura or Brugmansia......
Those are AWESOME smelling plants,
Ah, who is it, somebody grows them here,
Flower Crazy in Georgia................
She's got some pictures around here
on one of those web~shot things too!!
Beautiful flowers and smell....Mmmmmm.....

You need some of those to counter act
the smell from the Carrion ones.... [Big Grin]

Have you ever seen pictures of those huge ones?
I think it's the largest flowering
flower or however you word it,
it's in the world book of records....
I think they're about the same color too.

I got a quick peak into the book too,
I have to go back and check out the white X~mas cactus too!!

Thank~You again!!
Weezie

Catlover,
You better be nice to your mother,
Or I'll find a shot
"Be nice to [Love] Mother shot for you"!!!!! [Razz] [Razz]

Sorry it took so long for me to get back to this page. Weezie, I think the largest flowering plant might be at The Huntington Gardens...I'll have to go peek at their site to make sure..

Oh, and my Mother of Thousands is getting ready to bloom! A visiting nurseyman said he'd never seen one this tall in a private garden

Once they bloom, they're goners, though. I'll post pics as soon as the big event takes place...

The one that's the largest flower,
to my understanding, only blooms once!
after it blooms, it dies.........

It's really tall, about 6, 7,
I don't know, 8ft tall!

Looks like it comes out of a cabbage head or something...

Maybe Papito or Bill knows the name of it??
(I think it's in the 2003 records book,
I think it's in all of them...There's none bigger)

Hi All,

Here the link to the Corpse Plant at the Hunting Library in San Marino, CA. It bloomed in August of 2002. Be sure to check out the link that's called "Timeline Picture" towards the bottom of the Huntington pgae, it has terrific shots of this plant developing and blooming!
