Hi there -

We live in a townhouse with a concrete patio as our only backyard. I would love to have a lilac bush out back, but it would have to be in a pot.

If I got a huge pot and a small lilac bush, would it be okay? I'd prefer it not to get too big, but I don't want it to die, either.

Thanks.

Hi! When I get new bushes or trees and find them to small to plant out in the yard I always put them in pots. I have a lilac in a pot that has been there for 2 years. I am zone 6 and it has made it though the winter for me with no special care. I gave it a bigger pot this year. I wouldn't see any problems with doing it myself. Hope this helps.
