Does anyone know of a rapidly, growing thorny vine? One that can be used for security. This is strange, but our house has an old pole that allows access to the second floor when climbed. I need this vine to deter anyone from climbing it.

Julieann if it were me I would plant a bouganvilla and train it up the pole. The older the plant gets the bigger the thorns get. I live in Calif. so I don't know if the weather conditions prevent planting but I tell you what, I would never try to mess with one of these plants. I also prefer the pink blossoms. Good luck and hope you find what you need. Karen

Julieann what did you decide to plant next to that pole? If you can't find something right away and it is a metal pole could you grease the pole. This would make it so no one could climb the pole. I think it would be pretty funny if they tried, especially if you had a thorny cactus or poisonous bush below. Thats what they get for trying to break in in the first place. Let me know what you finally decided to do. Curiosity is killing me! Curious catlover, Karen

OOOooo I love the greasing the pole part! Actually someone is coming to take it down next week. The bad thing is about greasing the pole is the little burgler's are my step-children, when there Mom needs to dump them off on someone, even though we aren't home. So if they hurt themselves as it is the second floor of the house they are trying to break into and the attic, we'd have to pay for half the medical expenses. Buy what a clever idea, you never know I might do it anyway.

At least I got a good chuckle from the mental pictures of the greased pole. LOL

Thanks

Julieann
