I was wandering around my local Walmart and picked up a beautiful shrub and brought it home. Upon surfing the net, found out this is a evergreen plant native to South Africa. My question is;how can I get this to winterover in Iowa? It's only hardy in zones 9 and 10. Could I just keep it in a container and then bring it inside for the winter?

Is this the plant u r referring to? http://www.anniesannuals.com/signs/h/heteopappus_BK.htm

I've got some to put out--can't wait!
How about saving the seeds and sowing them next spring?

I don't see any reason why they wouldn't survive if u brought them in before your first frost. It's worth a try!

Is this the Blue Margerite you talked about on the BLUE FLOWER forum?
Here's a site with some info......

Let me know if this is any help.?
By the sounds of the reading I don't think it will over winter in your neck of the woods. But maybe take a stem cutting and root it in the fall....... Let me know if this info helps.........................

Thanks for the replies. Yes this is the Blue Margerite I talked about. It is SO pretty. I'm going to try saving seeds and bringing in the container. If the doesn't work I'll buy another next year. It helps to make my deck a happy place!
