I have a weeping pussy willow which I have been told is a grafted tree. Does anyone have any experience with these? It originally appeared to take the transplant very well, and while it has maintained new growth all through the summer it seems to have a bare spot and many of the branches appear dead. I am not quite sure what to do. Someone mentioned the possibility that the graft may have failed.

Thanks!

It does sound like that section of the tree has died. There is nothing you can do apart from letting the rest of the tree fill in the space. If there is no growth from those branches in the spring, you will have to prune out the dead branches.

Good luck
