I just bought one of these plants and would like some info about them.
The lady sadi they were "easy" [Embarrassed] to grow and would do fine in a north window.
I was wondering if anyone had anymore info on this plant...
Thanks for the help! [thumb]

Yeah, I might have said the same thing....

Unless you're goshin'us about the lady saleperson!
Cause she said it was a "EZ" plant (to grow)

Sometimes I swear the people that they have selling plants, know absolutely nothing about them
or their care and it's just a guess........

Well Greg, got a picture of your "EZ" plant??

Good morning everyone!!!! We have a few of those plants around the office, and our "plant guy" said they were ZZ plants. Basically, if they can live in an office with barely any light to speak of and watering every other week if the plant guy remembers, it is and "easy" plant to maintain. We have one that is at our reception area and there is no natural light there. It has been there for 4 months now and is doing just fine. of course, I'm sure it could do better, there is no new growth on it, but it hasn't lost any leaves or turned yellow. Take care everyone!

You're so funny Weezie! The only reason I knew what it was is because it was driving me nuts that the "plant guy" put it at the reception desk, no light, and it was doing fine, so I had to ask him! he swore that the ZZ plant was the newest answer to low light offices! Take care, back to work with me! [tears]

ZZ plant is the best new plant to come on the market in many years. It does best in bright light, but tolerates low light. It almost never needs repotting or fertilizer. It is also very pest resistant. In reduced light it can easily go a month or more without water. The one thing it doesn't tolerate is overwatering.

This is a great plant for those who may be a bit neglectful or those who travel and want to have a live plant when they return.

It is not a good plant for those who like to fuss over their plants.

Catlover,

ZZ plant is in the Aroid plant family. Several other aroids are considered toxic, including Dieffenbachia. So it is possible that ZZ may also be toxic.

I have just recently bought a much smaller plant that looks just like it. Mine was called an Eternity Plant. They also said that it is very easy to take care of. It can go in a spot that you wouldn't normally put any other plant in. Doesn't require much light and doesn't need watering often. So far it is the only plant to survive where I have it.

Ahhh my new favorite plant! The ZZ! These are so cool. I just found out about them about a month ago, went into Home Depot and seen them and HAD to get a few. They seem to be getting popular lately.
They need little water, tolerate low light. I water mine maybe once every 2 weeks currently. They store water in their tubers and leaves.

Garden Guy,

How long have you had it? How many times have you watered it? Did you repot it? How many leaves are yellow?

GardenGuy,

Your ZZ may be reacting to the repotting. If you used the same sized pot, then the yellowing should be limited and temporary. If you moved it up a pot size, then it is at risk for overwatering. If so, I suggest that you move it back to the original sized pot. Terra cotta is fine.

Loz,

In NYC, I paid $15 for a 6" ZZ and $35 for a 10" ZZ. Those are nursery prices, not Home Depot prices.
