Recently I came into possession of a Sensitive Plant (mimosa pudica) from a local garden centre. However, when I brought it home, I noticed small green bugs near some of the stems. So I quarintined and purged the bugs, and the plant seemed fine for a week in it's new placement (west-facing window w/ plenty of sun). But just recently, it began to turn all yellow and ugly and now it's more sensitive to movement and it's environment then before Does anyone have any possible ideas for me to save my plant?
thanks

Hello, I too have a sensitive plant, but unfortunately I do not have any suggestions. I wish you the best of luck because I think this is one of the coolest plants out there.
I don't know if this will help you or not, but I keep my sensitive plant outside where it gets direct sun most of the day (SE side of the house). I keep the soil evenly moist at all times. So far my sensitive plant (which I've only had for a couple weeks now) seems quite happy and has quite a bit of new growth, so I must be doing something right. How much water is your sensitive plant getting?

Sensitive plant (Mimosa pudica) is commonly called sensitive plant because the foliage closes and droops at the slightest touch. It is also sensitive to improper care.
Bright indirect sunlight with some early or late day direct sun is good. Keep temps above 60 degrees. It must be kept in a small pot and rarely needs repotting.
Keep the soil evenly moist, but not constantly wet; water when the surface of the soil feels dry. It also should be pruned or pinched back regularly to encourage branching and to keep it full and to prevent legginess.
The yellowing leaves may be the result of the aphid infestation or improper light, water, etc.
This is not a particularly hardy plant. It grows quickly from seed, but it loses its sensitivity and doesn't seem to last for more than a year or so. It is more of a novelty plant - kids love it. Good luck with yours.

While we're on the topic of Mimosa pudica, what is the best way to collect seeds from this plant? I just noticed that mine has half a dozen seed pods right now. Should I cut them off or wait for them to drop?
Just a little FYI about Mimosa Pudica. This is also known as the Shame Plant and was introduced in Hawaii by Off Islanders (Westerners) to encourage the native population to wear shoes. This plant has nasty little thorns! It has invaded most of the Pacific Island Group and is know known as an invasive nuisance.
