Is anyone here experienced with this plant? I have two, side by side, same types of pots same exact conditions, one is happy as can be, one is struggling to hold on.
The one that doesn't like life right now is the older of the two, I've had it for a few years. When it lived with me, it was fine, but then I had to send all my plants and animals ahead of me (by 2 months) to my husband-to-be's house, and since then it has barely held on.

I tried a 'terrarium' effect, by covering it with a glass...that made it happy, but then it out-grow the glass, so I removed it. Now it has gone back to dropping leaves and looking sickly. The other is not covered at all...

Can anyone think of a reason for this?

No pics right now, but should have some soon...

I knew nothing about these plants when I got the first one, it was in a grouping that Mike bought me years ago,I killed all the plants that came with it, so I'd really like to hold onto this one...

Fittonias are rather fussy plants. They don't like dry air at all and they don't like changes in their environment. In addition, they don't age very well. Yours has had a number of changes - relocation and in and out of the terrarium - and it may also be getting older. Perhaps it is time to take a cutting and start a new plant.

Thanks Will!

Do you recommend starting the cutting in water or soil? Also, does it need to be covered with a plastic 'tent'?

Because Fittonias require high humidity, I recommend rooting them in damp peat moss inside a sealed clear plastic tent.
