we have the most gorgeous ferns at the entry to our lobby here at work. I know that ferns grown from the "seeds" that form on the back of the fronds, but I need a little more specific information. Help?

The fern's "seeds" are actually spores. Unless you are prepared to provide a sterile spot with nearly perfect conditions, and then wait for a few years..... I wouldn't recommend trying it. It's really not a project for most gardeners to undertake. With the exception of tree ferns, most species can be divided pretty easily.

There are SOME ferns you can divide. Take a sharp sterile knife and cut straight through the root ball. I am presently doing that to some of mine that have outgrown their baskets and transplanting to my shady front area. Like I said it depends on the type of fern. No expert..... so read up on the individual type fern. Catlover
