i got some indoor palms that were in not the best shape from a guy on the street for a couple of bucks. i really want to save them, but i think that they need to be cut. after 5 months, there has been no decay, but no growth either. Do palms go dormant? The core of the fronds looks dead to me and the roots are not quite large enough to support itself upright. a friend told me to soak the roots in water (therapy), but it looks like ti is killing it more. is there any hope for my little guys?

From your description, your palm is beyond help. If the core of the plant where new growth emerges has died, then nothing can be done.

Beware of street guys selling cheap plants!
