I will be leaving my tucson home for about 5 month's. I have a shaded area (under severial grapefruit trees) with a drip system water outlet that comes on every other day for 20 mins. Can this work to keep my rubber plant alive while I'm gone? Should it be watered from the bottom or right into the pot? JKHRD

There is no way to predict just what your rubber plant's water requirements will be over the next 5 months. It will depend on temperature, rainfall, humidity, and wind. A steady application of water may be just right most of the time, but it may be too much or too little at other times. Potted plants don't have the same margin for error that in-ground plants do.

If this is your only alternative, then water from the top. Good luck!
