I had 26 liquid amber trees but now have 25 because someone planted it too close to the house. I have one more to take out and it is huge. I don't have seed pods ....I have those round balls with spikes on them which by the way are not good for the lawn mower. Sorry I can't answer your ? because they were already planted when I moved in.

Are they pod shaped or are they those little spikey balls? I know once they are established you have to keep cutting out the suckers that grow up next to the tree from the root system.

Here is a pix so people know what we are talking about:

There is a pix of the little balls I have on my trees. http://www.urbanext.uiuc.edu/treeselector/index_tree.cfm?id=60

Hi... [wayey] They are spikey balls......Reminds me of moonflower "spiked" pods.
Thanks for the pic and info. [thumb] I don't think i will plant any..I was trying to find a unique tree for our backyard...Maybe a baldcypress? Greg [thinker] [wayey] [gabby] [angel]

Greg,
Not that they are unique, but I like the
poplars...
I love the way the leaves flip back and forth
in the wind like gold or green coins!!!

I have a bunch of pretty flowering trees,
I'll find the list and repost it...
They all have pretty flowers on them.

I'm off to school right now, I'll post them later.

Bristly Locust

a golden chain tree
http://www.buckingham-nurseries.co.uk/acatalog/product_10380.html

blue jacaranda mimosifolia http://www.jacaranda.suite.dk/serv02.htm
or http://www.hellohello.com.au/Jacaranda.html
(Ah~Oh, forget this one, not in your Northern zone)
But it's pretty for the Southerners.....

And Wisteria (Purple, Pink and White)
I don't know if they all bloom at the same time........ Springtime and Early summer.

They are pretty flowering trees.
Not sure of the growing habits, etc....
I do know that in the Southern states the Mimosa
(pink) can become a tad bit out of control.
Between the seedlings and the stump regrowing....
But up North because the same growing conditions do not seem to apply?????

Anything look interesting???

What are you looking for???

We have a lot of those Jacaranda trees here in S. Calif. You never know they are even here til they flower and then what a mess. But ohhhh they are soooo pretty.
The liquid amber doesn't have the deep colorful leaves that some other kind of trees I have seen in your area. "In my opinion" I would choose something else. You can do much better in your neck of the woods!!!! [kitty]

Thanks to both of you for the help.... [thumb]
The Golden Chain Tree is pretty. Im leaning towards a conifer. I like them because they are interesting year round.....
We have a Douglas Fir, Black Hills spruce and a Colorado Blue and regular spruce. Another spruce or fir might be interesting..... [thinker] [gabby] [wayey] [Smile] [angel]
