I have written before and I am still having problems with my Peace Lily. New leaves form, but then a week or so later, they start turning brown on the ends of the leaves, until eventually all the leaf is brown and dead. But, new leaves keep forming. The whole plant looks pitiful, but I want to try to save it since it is from my mom's funeral. I water it once a week, and it gets plenty of light, but not too much. Room temperature. Any ideas?

It sounds like you are suffering from 2 problems. The first is dry air, which often causes browning tips on leaves. The second could be too much chlorine in your water. Let your water stand in its watering can for at least 24 hours before watering the plant with it. These are probably your problems if the brown spots are dry and crispy, if they are soft then you are overwatering your plant.

When new growth turns brown and dies , you have a serious problem that probably cannot be remedied. That is because the roots are seriously damaged; perhaps from overwatering or from a fungal disease of the roots. You can try cutting back on the watering, but it is very rare for peace lilies to recover from this. Sorry.

lucky- you are having the same problem that I am. Except my new sprouts aren't dying they just don't seem to be growing. My plant looks pitiful also. And the tips are brown. I really want to save this plant if possible. It is from my husbands Grandmothers funeral and I feel awful about the way it looks.
