Hello, I am hoping to rescue a sucker from a beautiful Clerodendrum trichotomum tree (though I understand it's actually classified as a shrub). I was told I could just dig it up and plant it in the ground. Is it really that easy? Should I take any precautions, or do anything special in the process? I've never done this before. Thank you.

You should have no problems if you sever the sucker from the main plant with a sharp instrument (knife or shovel). Remove the sucker with a root ball such that the delicate roots are not damaged or exposed. Replant and tamp the lose soil around the root ball so as to remove all air pockets. Water adquetly and frequently, not to allow drying until palnt is well established. The sucker should never show signs of being disturbed. Nash
