I planted yellow and black raspberries this year. I definately know that the yellow ones (Fall Gold) are the right variety. We had quite a few of them. The other had no berries on them and the canes are about 3-4 feet long, the variety on the pot said "Jewel", are these raspberries or something else? How do I look after such long canes in the winter? (zone 4)

Where did you order the raspberry canes from?

What I might do is call and explain to them the circumstances!!!
#1. You believe you didn't receive the right raspberries.
#2. You'd like to know if the discription fits any of the other types of rasp. they might sell and you'll like to know how to properly care for them, since you've got them and are growing.
#3. Do they say sorry, let me make it right and send you the ones you wanted at no charge.
*they should if it was their boo~boo!*
#4. Tell them you are on a gardening forum and were sending in good reports on the Gold ones, but going to send in bad results for the other brand and company, that might even get you some more free~bie's.

Most of the time places want to keep your business and want good word of mouth, that's how it works, You were happy and tell friends and so on. That's usually how it works, if they want to be difficult. Find another place.
I shop on the QVC for some, not all, plants in the spring time and they have some reasonable good deals if you are looking for things, do some research and then watch the program come spring time. They have offered raspberries before, 2, 3, or 4 varieties for a certain price and if anything happens to them with in one year (meaning the growing time of that entire summer and if they come up the following spring, you are completely covered, they send you a new order no questions asked if you were not satisified with the products/results. They want return visitors.

That's my 2 cents worth.
Hope this helps a little!!

Thanks catlover, I bought them from wal-mart and they had the label on them, I just didn't expect that they grew on such long canes. I guess the fruit only grows on two year old canes. Can't wait til next year to try them out. [thumb]
