I've always wanted to plant a lilac tree when I purchased a home of our own. Well we finally bought a new home and now I'm clueles as to when the best time would be to plant one. I've searched every website about lilacs and I still have not gotten a an answer. Can some one help me out? I'm moving to Lynwood Illinois.

Lilacs can be planted in early spring or fall. Depending on the size, it can take a few years for it to bloom. I planted one 3 years ago and it didn't bloom until this year. Good luck!
