I have a bougainvilla planted in my outside garden that has beautiful foliage but hardly any blooms. I feed with Miracle Grow every two weeks and this plant is growing like crazy but just not blooming like I think it should. Am I doing something wrong? Any advice? Also, how do I care for this plant during the winter? I have heard they will freeze and die. Thanks in advance

Do you have it in full sun? That would be very important. You are probably stimulating your bouganvilla too much. Most vines don't like fertilizer. It makes them grow more vine but no blooms. Stop fertilizing and see what happens..
Texas has zones ranging from 6 to 9. Bouganvilla is hardy to zone 9b, so unless you are at the southern most tip of Texas, you will need to bring it in or cover the ground so that it doesn't freeze. Here's a map of Texas to find your zone. http://www.growit.com/bin/USDAZoneMaps.exe?MyState=TX

Hi Melissa, I have found in the past with deep watering and then leave them alone they will produce tons of flowers. In this case the less water the better. FYI I just cut one of my huge bouganvilla's back that was taking over a hill to almost nothing (about 2ft. tall and left just bare wood) and it is now producing leaves and blossoms. They are very hardy at least in Calif. Good luck with your blossoms. Karen
