Hi all!

I am new to this forum. I have a honeysuckle vine in a container on my balcony in Dallas, TX where it is twining around the railing. It is now 18 months old. It has become twiggy and long, but with only 3-4 leaves at the end of each vine. I would appreciate any advice on how to get the plant to fill out with leaves, and flowers in the spring. I have pruned sparingly, but am afraid to go overboard on a young plant. The pruning had no noticable effects on the foliage.

Thanks much!

Hi Jennifer
I've had (4)honeysuckle growing over my arbour for 7 years now. In the first couple of years all I got was vine as well, with a few leaves on the end. Two years after they were planted, I cut one main vine down to about 30" on each of them and have been doing that ever since as well as shaping and light fertilizer(Miracle grow) My vines are beautiful with large dark green leaves and lots of flowers! The hummingbirds love them.
