My husband built me a greenhouse this year but it is not yet heated. does anyone know if i can put my perennials that i buy on sale in the fall in it for the winter or should i leave them outside with the snow. normally i plant them but its already gotten below freezing. we`re having an abnormally cold fall.

Since your ground is already frozen and I assume your sale plants are in containers, I would recommend you put them in your greenhouse. Check on them periodically to make sure they don't get dried out. You might even want to mulch around them for added protection. They would probably do just fine being left out but I wouldn't take the chance if it were me.

If the ground has not froze yet it would be fine to plant them now. Just DO NOT FERTILIZE THEM!!! That would awaken the plant from its dormant period. You could however use a little bit of bone meal mixed into the soil to help the plant root quicker.
