Just outta curiousity, what are CRUMPETS???
And what do you do with them?
Are they like toast?
A big cookie?

Got some Blueberry and Raspberry Crumpets
for Christmas from Wolferman's ,
and was wondering if anyone
knew what to do to them?

Weezie,

Crumpets are sort of like English muffins but softer and sweeter. Just pop them into the toaster and serve with jam or honey...or poached egg...or cheese...or whatever you like. If your crumpets are the fruit ones, they're probably better with something sweet like jam.

Thanks Cricket!!!!
I wasnt' sure??
They are round and have a few holes in it...
They smell delicious, even thru the wrapper....
And sounds really great....

I'll be taking an adventure with them tomorrow
and see if I like them...

Weezie

(I always thought they were a cookie to be
honest with you, I've heard of "Tea and Crumpets"
So I thought it was tea and cookies......)

Cricket,

What would "cream" be???

Whipped cream, cream cheese, heavy cream?????
Not sure???????????

I think, I'm going to try it with some strawberry jam on the raspberry one's...
and maybe just some butter for the blueberry one's? Not 100% yet, but that's what I"m thinkin'!

I think the English traditionally use clotted cream (Devonshire cream) but whipped cream or cream cheese sounds yummy too! [thumb]

I was talking with someone a loooooooooong time
ago and that was mentioned....
Brain~Drain, I get that alot!!! [Roll Eyes]
Anyhow, I looked some info up on it, and here's a wee~page of info to read Devonshire clotted cream
Looks like it's a bed and breakfast info sheet, but lot's of good info on it...
*Looks great too!*

I had only heard of Davenshire Cream as in
the knock off type of Baily's Irish Cream,
so was very interested in finding out!!!
**I wanted some Bailey's Irish Cream for Christmas, but didn't get any [tears] [Eek!] )

Thanks Again Cricket!!!

Weezie

P/S I tried the Blueberry one this morning and
it was definately different..
I buttered it up and it was tasty!!
*I might have over buttered it as it was dripping thru it's holes onto the plate, I'll have to figure something more out for the others...
But it sure is fun trying them!! Yummy!!!

I think I'm going to get some for NYE...
I got the pizza the other night and I told him

But Thank~You so much for the offer... [Wink] [wayey] [Smile]

Cricket, that's so hysterical about the cookie press thing. I went through my own cookie press hell during the holidays. I was given a hand-me-down press from my neighbour's mum and now I know why: instead of the ratchet mechanism that I'm used to, the top screws down to squish the cookies out. I had to let my he-man boyfriend have a go at it and even he couldn't get good results, so I let his 5 yr old experiment with making swirl cookies. You roll out rectangles of different coloured doughs between waxed paper and refrigerate them for about 30 mins. Then you unwrap one layer of paper from both doughs and slide one on top of the other. Unwrap the top layer while rolling the dough into a long cylinder and use the bottom wrapper to wrap up the dough again. Into the fridge for another 30 mins and then simply slice into 1/4" rounds and bake at 350F for 10 mins. Worked great because spritz cookie doughs and refrigerator cookie doughs contain a lot of butter...and salvaged the cookie press disaster. [grin]

Hello Just looking at the recipes and came to Crumpets.
Well we English usually have these at breakfast time. You can put anything you want on them, we mainly just have them plain with butter or margarine.
Weezie when the butter oozes out, that is the whole point of them so you have'nt over done it. [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

You know, they were good...
Better with the jelly...
But something was just different about them.

We got these out of a catalog, my mom had
sent them to my Uncle, he loves that sort of thing, it came with a basket and jam's and
assorted goodies...

We just don't get them in the local grocery stores, so I wasn't sure what to do with them..
The butter seeping out of them was okay for the adults, but when the wee~one's got ahold of them,
there was butter everrrrrrrrrry where!!! [Wink] [Big Grin]

Francine,
Not really to be honest,
I wasn't all that crazy about them..
They were different.. and a nice change...
but, they weren't something I'd eat again and again!!!
And we've been tryin' to cut out a wee~bit
of all that bread we're eating too...
But thanx for thinking of me, that is very nice
of you!!!! [thumb]

Ooooo Crumpets are so good.....Sort of like an English Muffin over here in the US, but better.....we used to eat them all the time in England for breakfast....

Mom and Dad are going to England for a month this August and I always look forward to them coming home because they come back with goodies---candy and such.......English candybars are the best...Aero bars, and Crunchies, and Maltesers.......my mouth is now officially watering.......LOL
