I have LOTS of Dr Suess Brugmansia cuttings to get rid of. They are not selling and since I still want to get them out of my kitchen I am offering them here. For $8 postage (flat rate box) you will get no less than 5 rooted cuttings of various sizes. Cannot promise particular sizes but at 5 cuttings each I have enough for about 10 people. PM if you are interested for my PayPal address or mailing address. [kissies] (No winks available here at the moment!)

Also only offering here first--if no takers will withdraw the offer and offer elsewhere. I REALLY want to be rid of these!! Bonnie

Oh yea--also have 6 or 7 cuttings of Frosty Pink in soil to root to also get rid of. Can do any of these individually or in flat rate box. LMK!!

Ok-still no response so I have offered at the other site. No response by the end of next week and they all go out to the side of the road for the trash people!! So if you want some speak up now or forever hold your peace!! hehehe After all how can you beat FREE!! All you pay is postage--and flat rate because some of the cuttings are more than 1' tall and some are pretty thick as well! This way you get MORE for the money. Ok? So it is now or never. They go out next Wednesday (trash picked up Thursday am)!!

peppereater--Do you one better. I cannot post a photo but here is a link!!

http://www.brugmansia.us/galleries/main.php?g2_view=core.ShowItem&g2_itemId=1154

If the ground freezes they will need one of the following done every Fall before the first killing frost:

1) Trimmed and moved inside--a garage or some other place heated

2) some sort in in the ground heater to keep the roots from freezing

3) Cut the to just above the ground, cover with LOTS of Pine Needles and for extra measure cover with large clay pot (woudl take at least one cutting and root it in case you lose the plant anyway)

These are very lovely, very fragrant flowers and are well worth the extra efforts!! In the 2nd year the tree will come back with several stalks and get VERY tall. The flushes from then on will make you the envy of your neighborhood gardening friends!!

Njoynit,
I had one... or maybe the cousin Datura,
I'm not that fully versed on the the?two,
the likes and dislikes...

and it wassssssss HEAVENLY....
I would sit with my nose in that flower most
of the evening...ABSOLUTELY INTOXICATING....
and I couldn't get enough...

It was a small one... and when I tried to over winter it,
*before walking children* it just
didn't like my house, too cold,
too drafty and no where's near the amount
of sunlight or light to it's satisfaction...

And I have two boys that can not leave their hands off of anything, and I know a poisonous
plant would not make it in my house...

So, until I win that LOTTERY, I am sufficed to
living vicariously thru my gardening friends who grow them where they can be grown and getting to sit and gaze at them and dream.....

Who else can we think of..???...

Well...I was so excited awhile ago when I posted that...
I wasn't even thinking about the fact that it's 19 degrees here right now...and will be getting colder. I got some plants the other day in the mail and they were frozen. [tears] Extremely dead.

Will these things live at this temp for shipping?

By the way, thought I already posted this--Jimmy is the last one. They are GONE, GONE ,GONE now!! Weezie--sound like Datura. Datura is only a perennial in warmer climates. That is why it doesn't survive in your house--it is annual where you are. You had one that smelled GOOD??!! WOW!! Usually (with my ONE kind experience) they stink or have no smell to me. Brugmansia is NOT small in any way and heavily perfumed--especially noticable at night. The differences are:

Seeds
Datura--mostly look like green pepper seeds that are inside a spiny, prickly seed pod that opens as it ripens

Brugmansia--come in a great long pod, they look like funny looking peas--brown or tan wrinlked coating that needs to be removed before planting. Usually by soaking in warm water

Flowers
Datura--upturned, smaller flowers

Brugmansia--Long, tubular flowers that hang down--sometimes as much as 2' long

Plant
Datura---looks like a small shrub tree varying in size from 1' to several feet tall and across

Brugmansia--STRONGLY resembles a tree with a thick trunk or several on plants more than one year old. Can grow to several feet tall. My Dr Suess this year (year two in the ground) over 6' and had 6-7 stalks that size!! The flushes were AWESOME to say the least!!

Both are poisonous if ingested. Both need deep watering. Brugs need to be fed at least once a week with a liquid form of fertilizer. Miracle Grow works well, alfalfa sprouts soaked over night work well for most plants and I imagine things like worm casings or manure tea would also work wonderfully.

Datura is annual for most of us while Brugs can be safely overwintered outside with protection from zones 7&8, zones 9-11 thrive year round with little to no trimming even.

Far as I am concerned, both are worthwhile plants to grow--even given the work!! Well worth it!!

Suzydaze, Miss Jaimie and AfGrey Parrot--I need your addresses ASAP please!! Cindy--I think the way I have yours packaged up and how it is soo very well rooted it will make it. Don't send any money--we'll see if it makes it then talk about it, ok?! (If you have questions email me, not PM--ok?!!) Thanks!! Everyone's packages are ready to go as soon as I have the time and cash--hopefully Tuesday!! They are all rooted, some pretty well. Hope they all make it to their new homes--all gone so there will be no replacements if they do not. Sorry!! Enjoy!!

Bonnie,
I know my flowers smelled in the evening..
and they hung down...
*I had to pull the flower up right or
take the pot above my head *so to speak* to
peak into or smell the flower..*

I dont' think I paid alot for it,
and I knew when I bought it, it wasn't suited
to over wintering...but the fragarence was way worth the price for an annual...

weezie if the flower hung down it was a Brug. For the most part these can be overwintered inside anywhere. They are dormant in Winter. Of course the ones inside may continue to grow but slower than they do outside in Spring/Summer. I have a couple little ones-rooted--if you would like to try again. These are LITTLE but they ARE rooted so they will be a gift from me to you. Ok?!! Dr Suess--huge buds start out looking yellow then turn orange/apricot. The second year they will be huge--at least the ones overwintered in the groudn or large enough container. You shouldn't have problems. I got a few different kinds in cuttings from a lady in Indiana who grows MASSIVE, MONSTER Brugs!! So if she can do it, You can too! Right??!! PM me your address and later this week you will have some new goodies to play with, ok?!! Bonnie

Bonnie,
I didn't get any seeds off that one plant..
I am a snipper, to keep getting flowers on annuals?
Especially those tiny little puppies...

I bought a package of pelleted seeds originally.
And only got one plant..

I'm sorry.. [tears]

Ok--didn't have the money to mail on Tuesday like I wanted. Those who paid PayPal--am waiting for transfer to my account to be complete. For all--I weighed the packages and some are going regular Priority as it is cheaper--no sense giving the PO more than we have to, eh? So once you receive your package please email me at B1wHim@hotmail.com let me know how they arrived (I have nothing to replace any damaged ones with) and if you feel you need a partial refund for the postage. Remember--these are FREE to you except the postage which is far less than these plants would cost to buy them--especially 5 at a time!! hehehe Thanks!! Hope they all arrive in excellent condition!! They were ALL rooted, some pretty well. Enjoy and thanks for helping me out!!

Bonnie my transfer should be complete per notice paypal sent me yesterday but then using paypal I do understand about this transfering. Also we all should be aware this price is postage only or at least everyone should know they cannot buy these plants for that. Have a good day. Stay warm.

I hope they all get where they are going ok--still alive and all with the cold temps but can't hold til Spring!! hehehe Nothing to replace them with if they don't make it!! Bonnie
