no it doesn't. lol i found that picture after i did the post about it and i figured someone would look at that picture. this is just a small house plant. it actually has a large shell at the base of the stalk. looks kind of like a walnut. and then just a stalk that shoots up.

Lxygurl,
Go back to the first one that I sent you...
Go to the top, on the left, click on FOXTAIL PALM,
read the bar in the middle and on the right side, there's the words PHOTO GALLERY<click that,
I think, AND I AM NOT A HOUSE PLANT PERSON, SO I MAYBE WRONG,*won't be the first time today, I'm freezing solid here [scaredy] [Big Grin] * but it looks to me like what you might have is the begining of that tall tree, but because it's kept in a small container, it's not allowed to ever grow big..??
Maybe/??????????????????????????????????
Is the picture of the seed the same??????????????

That is not an easy plant. It must have a lot of very bright, but indirect light all day long. Right in a north or east window would be best. It must be in a good quality, porous potting mix that drains quickly so that the soil doesn't stay soggy for long. Water thoroughly when the soil feels dry about a quarter of the way down. If your local water is hard, use filtered, distilled or rainwater. Fertilize very sparingly. Watch the undersides of leaves for spider mites.

Good luck!

so what is the worse case it stays the same size as it has for the past several months? or are the browning leaves the sign of it dying off now?
by Will Creed on January 12, 2004 03:01 AM
If all of the leaves have turned completely brown, that is not a good sign. Not knowing its history and how it has been cared for, I cannot really predict.

Can you send me a photo?
