I took oleander cuttings when in Galveston End of may.I want them larger b4 grounding them.I'm going to pot up in milk jugs with 8-10 holes in bottom. currently in drink cups.I want to know if should do fine till spring useing sand peat mix. They are in a sand peat mix now but is more sand than peat(my bag ran out.don't ya hate that! [Mad] )I'm going to add more peat in the mix.they stopped growing so think time to pot up a size, but if go one larger then will hit "filling the GH" time when time to re pot in nov.If put in ground now...hubby may hit.so want lagrger b4 I tempt him.He has managed to "top"my ROS that just potted up.It was 9 inches. It is now just stem..poor thing is naked.least is has roots [lala]

Heck if I know njoynit [dunno] ...I wish I could pull all these giganto oleanders up and give them to you....They are as big as those in the middle of freeways...I keep cutting them back to the ground and they pop right back up again. The roots are massive and intertwined otherwise I would definitely give you ALL of mine!!!

At the nursery around here I have seen them in one gallon pots and they get about 2ft worth of green growth....if that helps at all! [dunno]
Remember there are at least 2 types...I have the freeway size guys(fast growers)...but they also have oleanders that stay very small and very slow growers.

Your husband must be brutal to your plants...I would be keepin a 3rd eye on him when he was outside! [Big Grin]

shoot more like 10 eyes! [gabby] [gabby] [perplexed]
He just ain't garden oriented.I recently had him steal part of my planned greenhouse...cause I was witing on 2 posts!2 posts! and he took my 2 posts I had.He used them on garage& the metal.I did get the timers for bed& got the lumber from garage roof by removeing the metal for him.I took his PVC pipe that use top frame awning on 5th wheel.hopefully he don't need that grounding rod or won't ever lift my pvc pipe.
i want them tall enough that he can't miss them b4 they are inground& are evergreen here.I like them don't mind um being invasicve or spreading. The red grows sloer I know I didn't get red and will look next time down.i think got 2 pinks whites and peaches& don't know which ones rooted till they bloom.I have 2 acres.I want less grass so more plants is the answer.& are drought tolerant.a plus have you tried boiling water?being city they'd probablly want ya to have a weiner roast permit for a ground fire then only certian times.if could burn on ground would maybe heat area up and kill roots

You two are something else....swiping each others stuff and whoever gets it up first and defends it....keeps it!!! [Big Grin]

I can't....won't fit through my fences...but if I could I would bring in a truck, wrap a chain around it and yank them out...but again it would probably take out my whole house with the root system and burn up the motor of a truck. [Roll Eyes]

I have been spraying/drilling Roundup...the stuff just does not want to go AWAY! Can't hurt to try the hot water...WEINER ROAST [shocked] I would kill everyone on the block ....remember oleander is poisonous when burnt....the fumes will kill you!!!! [Frown]

Hmmmm...never heard that about the red....would you mind telling my red giganto oleanders that for me!!! [Big Grin] I have the red and pinks everyother one. I used to have 3 sides of the lot surrounded by it....now have some of those stubborn ones yet to get and the remaining back fence line. [Frown]

My mom had the slow growth ones and they came in both red and pink. [dunno]
Good Luck with your ole's

I saw a few oleanders the last few days that have been trimmed up into big sized trees....either with one main trunk or 3 or 4 trunks....they really look pretty neat [thumb] ....but you would have to keep up on the suckers coming up.
[kitty] Have a nice day! [wayey]

When I was a kid, we had 3 white Oleanders in the backyard, that had been trained to take tree form. My dad kept having to cut the suckers off the base of the trees.
One year, we had a huge windstorm that knocked one of them over. My dad propped it up with stakes and the thing kept right on going. Didn't seem to be bothered at all!

Just be careful. Every part of that plant is poison.
