Hello All...

About 6 weeks ago I was given a Christmas cactus cutting. It already had roots. I potted it in a 3 inch pot with cacti / succulent mix. Since I've had it I've watered it every 11 - 14 days or so. It's 6 inches away from a window that faces east.

The end segments are wrinkled and the purplish veins are becoming very pronounced. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong.

Sounds like it might want a bit more water. This kind of cactus likes more than the more usual kinds. I'd try watering it once a week.

Thank you Margaret. I'll try that. Lately it's been growing aerial roots. Is that because it needs more water?

yep. that'll do it.

yup, if you've got arial roots going, it's just not getting enough water. i'd water at least every 10 days...every 7 is better, tho.

My little plant was trying to communicate to me all along what he needed. I guess I need to improve my "listening" skills.

i think you're listening skills are just fine. the problem was you didn't understand the language! [Big Grin]

and learning the language is why you are here!

East window light is fine. It's weak and It won't hurt it. Mine get sun from a west window in the afternoons.

I moved the plant about 18 or 20 inches away from the window a couple of days ago. It's shaded by a couple of other plants. It's starting to look a little better. Thanks for the advice. [Wink]
