Anyone know what tree this is? It's been growing on my property for a few years now. It was suggested (Mystery Plants) it might be a Black Gum (Nyssa sylvatica)I looked at a few photos of that tree and I'm thinking maybe it might not be the one.

I love the sweet scents wafting in the breeze. I stop to admire the vibrant colors of all living things. And people think me odd. Then ODD I am!!!

Papito, what do the paint daubs on citrus seedlings mean?
One of mine has a lavendar dab and below it an orange dab.

Hi Deborah,

I don't know the answer myself, so i called two tree nurseries in our area. Both persons I talked to said that the nursery attendants would put paint daubs to indicate the variety of citrus when no tags are available. With the paint daubs, the cashier or nursery sales personnel can provide the buyers at the time of sale with the correct name tags for the citrus trees.

Thanks, Papito, that was nice of you to call your nurseries.
It's my dwarf Valencia orange that has the lavendar and orange paint daubs.
I guess? lavendar means Valencia and orange means orange.
BTW, my Meyer lemon is doing fine now, thanks to your advice about iron chelate !
I dose the Valencia with it too, and they both get that good E.B.Stone citrus food.
My roses also get the iron now, and they look gorgeous ! Thanks ! [clappy] [flower]

Paint DAUBS.
Daubs of paint on citrus trees to identify them.
Like a code.

Back to the topic of the thread and picture [Big Grin] The picture doesn't appear to be a tree but a succulent of some sort. I think the poster may have copied the wrong image for this post. [Wink] Or I drank way too much coffee and my eyes are reacting. lol!

What a downer of a week you've had, Dodge. Maybe you need a few chuckles?

I'm not seeing anything in that picture that looks like a Hosta. Here is the one that shows up for me...
