Cauliflower tying time??????

I'm wondering if any of you tie your cauliflower leaves together once you see the veggie forming inside?

If you do when is the best time to do this?

Ive never tied them, when i see them forming i just snap a leaf over to give them shade.

I used self blanching and didnt have to tie.
