Hello all [Wink] I hope everything is growing well in all of your yards, gardens, and pots [Smile]

My peas took off before almost anything else, and I am bit confused on how long they will take to... well give me peas [Smile] . I am not sure whether I should prop them up on something or what?

Marina,
Here's what I do, I take rabbit fencing found
in Tractor/Farm supply stores..

This will just give you a general idea...
 -

Just give them some type of fencing, and they
will do all the work for you...climbing and growing...

Marina..
Here is another picture, of last years' garden..
I was growing acorns on the fence, but this year I did the peas on it..
I put two posts into the dirt, and measured just
the right amount of fencing and wrapped the ends just around the stakes... *didn't even have to tie it or anything, as the metal hung around it just fine..
But this picture will give you another idea/way how to do it..

Thanks for advice and the pictures. How big should the plants be before I put something like that in?

Also... are there any good beginner books anyone could recommend? I always worry that my plants don't look normal/I dont know what they should look like growing up or in their grown states.

[Smile] Thanks again, your plants look great!

I always let my peas get to 3 or 4 inches, then i give them something to grow up.
if your peas are not in a straight row, i would use pea sticks beside the plants.
just get some sticks from the woods and push them in beside the peas.

Marina,
I set up my fence first to be honest...
Then plant the peas right at the base of it
on either side...
**I do have pictures of that process, *just doing it now actually*
but haven't gotten the camera downloaded and pic's resized...**

but I would put something there as soon as possible.. when you put something there *after planting* you run the risk of shoving it down in thru the new roots, so if you can get something in now, chances are, you'll be in time..
*the younger the better*

Mark gave a great suggestion if you don't have anything in place yet...
get them growing up at least...

As for books and seeds, and what they look like,
I haven't had any books too see...*too poor to go get some now that I am into doing my own seeds*

I have seen some that I would love to have...
The New Seed Starter Handbook...
and
Seed to Seed: Seed Saving and Growing Techniques for Vegetable Gardeners....

but haven't read them, so I am not 100% sure...
Psssst, if you get them *or any*, let me know how they are?
