I've never heard of a "purple spider plant". I have heard of a "purple spider flower" plant. I did a search for spider plants(purple) and kept coming up with the spider flower(in the cleome family). Its called "Purple Queen Spider Plant".

Hope this helps

I got a plant a few years back that I thought was a spider plant it had purple edges to the green leaves and had the right leaf pattern to be a spider. But then it kept growing taller and now has a 8 inch trunk to it, its neat looking
