Yo cindy [wavey] Them peoneys I dug up and placed in container.....they ain't dead [shocked] They have sprouts.Imagine that! [nutz] I really don't know whats going on.
so do they go dormant on me due to soooo much heat in the summer [dunno]
And should I grow in container or try the ground again??? [dunno]

I also do believe both have sprouted. It has a few shoots with leaves forming on the one& the other I broke top of stem off looking for life(but its there)

The plants can live for 75 years so it's best to put them somewhere that will be their permanent home. Especially when it takes them 3 to 7 years to establish themselves before they will bloom. Good look with yours this is my second year with mine and I'm already looking forward to year three. Mine have sprouted too and I hope they get much bigger than last year. So far each has put up two shoots.

Cool, njoynit! [thumb]
I figured they were dead.
I was thinking about them the other day, wondering if they made it.

I'm with hooper...I'd plant them in the ground.

hmmmm [gabby] so where's going to be best the place in my climate?I'm going to guess they will need to be close to house due to the colder air underneath& I guess my microclimate spot is not good as its a 7 degree differance on an average or higher.

I'm also shifting some shade items from my retreescaped shadebed to my other shadebed. Its under a blackjack oak tree.

They will like the coldest shady spot you have in your climate. Just remember to give them plenty of room. Because the clump does increase in size over time. Something else I'm looking forward to.

To all you peoneys lovers. I`ve had them for 3 years now and one thing I found out is When they on longer grow or get the fungus (black spots on the leaves mow them down with the mower. I thought they were gone but to my suprise they came back next year. Also I pulled out the stems BUT not the roots. I found out that they grew at over twice the rate and taller then before. Thought you might like to know that.

Finally IF you want, I have a neighbor who grows a Large field of them several acres and can post a pic if you like later this year.

I want to see the picture too. It must be beautiful and smell so good.

Njoynit, they need cold in the winter to actually bloom. They do go dormant. I haven't seen mine yet and I'm wondering if it's because we didn't have much cold.
