I just received a Michigan Bulb Co. Catalog and it has a 20.00 free coupon on it with a purchase of 20.00 and I can't decide what to get. Here is what I have so far:

Jasmine (1) plant 3.99
Climbing Shell Plant (1) plant 5.99
Miniature roses
Green Ice, Starts & Stripes, Lavender Lace, Summer Sun, and Judy Fischer for 15.00
Double Mock Orange (1) plant 3.99
Redwing Butterfly Gladiolus (6) bulbs 4.99
Orange glory flower (6) for 9.99
pineapple lily (2) bulbs 7.99
wintergreen (1) plant 9.99

The online website is www.michiganbulb.com

That will help. So are these people worth ordering from? And if so how should I spend my 20.00 coupon and 20.00 hard earned cash lol.

[wavey] Hi Tammy,
I'm in my seed catalogue fantasy now that winter has truly arrived.

I hope I'm not speaking out of turn.(If so,just delete it)

In my opinion, that company really stinks.
small ,weak plants and bad bulbs.

tk I have ordered from them in the past...Some of the things I recieved from them I was not too please with, Things that I didn't like was that anything bulb wise was small compared to other companies, some didn't grow for me or didn't look like very healthy plants, but that was quite a few years ago, so if you decide to order be sure to let us know what you think about the plant products you get.

I would have liked to get that jasmine but with what you are telling me I guess I'll give it a pass. I can't afford to waste money and I need the best seeds possible to get going.

Tammy, is the jasmine you are considering a plant or from seeds?

I haven't tried them from seeds but Jasmine plants are quite easy to care for and grow quickly if you can provide them with sufficient light and water. Mine is in a south facing window and has been blooming steadily since early spring, though not as profusely during the winter. It does best when the soil is kept evenly moist (not soggy). Watering lapses quickly result in yellow leaves so conscientious watering practice is a must but the reward of fragrant flowers is worth the attentiveness!

It's a bareroot plant that they are advertising. But I can wait and order a ten dollar one from a nusery with a better reputation. They don't even specify which jasmine it is and I want the arabian jasmine if I can get it.

Tammy,
I've never ordered from them,
so I can't say about that part..

but I do know...
quote:
Green Ice, Starts & Stripes, Lavender Lace, Summer Sun, and Judy Fischer for 15.00
Double Mock Orange (1) plant 3.99

the those little miniature roses' are quite tenacious buggers.... the plant it's selves
are not little, they can get tall, but the flowers are dainty and very pretty...

And we have a mock orange and the fragarance
from those flowers is just heavenly.... [thumb]
(our shrubs are about 7~8 ft tall)

I'm glad to know that about Michigan Bulb CO. I just assumed that since they had been around for years, and their prices have always seemed high, that they were a high quality company.
One thing I think about companies with those $20 free with purchase offers is that you wind up getting things for about the price they're worth (half the price of the regular catalogue price.)

Sometimes it is better to pay alittle more for a good product then to try to get a bargin and be disappointed.

A while back the Michigan Bulb Company was always sending out information about contest, well I bit and entered and ended up with worthless plants. They were really a contest running company!!
