Hi, I'm new so I thought I'd check in and say hi. I'm from beautiful East Texas right outside of Tyler, Tx. I love my yard and I'm out there every chance I get. I'm not new to gardening but I still crash and burn occassionally, I've been raising roses for about 6-7 years now, had around 75 rose bushes when I started, bad mistake I'm now down to about 15 have figured out what I can handle. I also piddle with ornamental grasses...pampas, a little boo, some river cane, nothing exciting but I like it. Irises(?) carolina jasmine, wild grapes for the birds, mostly I just piddle. Now thanks to a great lady I have been bit by the seed bug, so I have a ton of seeds and looking forward to that this winter and spring. Plus I like to spice up the yard with home made garden junk uuuhhhmmm mean art. So hello everybody. Txgurlcop

Hello Txgurlcop. It is very nice to meet you. Wow 75 rose bushes is a lot to care for; especia;;y where you need to water them. Seeds can be fun and give a satisfaction of their own. Glad you could join us~Tina

Thank you jonni13, I guess I should have also added uh I basically didn't know what I was doing when I brought all them home. Around here only the strong survive, so that means whats left is cast iron tough. I'm looking forward to getting to know everybody, I have been looking all over this forum and everybody seems very sweet and oh so helpful. Have a good night and thanks again for welcoming me. thank you angelblossom, oh i don't have 75 anymore. i have either shovel pruned them or they committed rose suicide or i just flat out killed them through pure ignorance. mostly the latter. i get real tickled my sister (whom i got rose addicted) will call me and ask questions about what to do with one thats giving her problems and i'll tell what to do and she has beautiful roses. then she'll come down here and look at mine and give me that look of why does yours look so pathetic? but i try, we live in an area that's close to one of our lakes and its like a steam bath here most of the time so i battle black spot and a couple of other rose problems all the time. plus i don't spray with chemicals so i have a full time battle, but i do have fun and i do like it when my neighbors come over to smell them. but i have figured out that my all time favorite has become "knock out". she/he's a work horse. okay i'm rambling now, i'll shut up. thanks again to everybody i feel like i'm welcome here. txgurlcop

Hi Txgurlcop I love roses perhaps cause I'm called Rose! actually its Rosemary (another wonderfully sented plant) but no one calls me that since my mum died. Had to laugh when I read that you piddle in your garden as it has a completely different meaning in the UK. luv Rose
