My 6yr old neutered tom cat frequently sprays in different corners around the room. I have tried using the vets plug in hormone scent..that didnt work,telling him off doesnt work either, squirting him with water has a little success. Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

is there a new person or animal in the house?? and is that newbie a male?
that's what usually triggers these incidents...your cat is just marking it's territory. it's a natural instinct and i don't think there's any way to stop him from doing it.
i'd clean and then cover the areas that are being sprayed with something that is easily cleaned (just thinking about future incidents).

NO there is no new pets or people in the house. I keep using neutralizer sprays too. some days I have no problem ,but other days I have to watch him like a hawk.

well, SOMEthing is setting him off...could even be another male that passes by outside the window!
could even be something as silly as you moved one of his toys!

Is it possible for cats to get under your house? I knew of a couple who's male cat was peeing and for awhile they didnt know why...turns out that another male was getting under their house and their indoor guy was marking his territory inside the house....for the longest time they didnt know about the other cat under their house....but once they realized the problem and replaced the board....problem solved??

I have a cat that from time to time has a temper tantrum and will pee where she isn't suppose to . She always goes to the same places to do it. He maybe doing that. The only thing I have been able to do to stop her is when I catch her I put her in the litter box. They sure are mysterious creatures!

glenda, may want to take him to the vet just to rule out a UTI. When cats get them, the pain is soo intense that they just have to pee where ever they are. Its usually hard to catch a cat's UTI until it gets to this point since the cat box is usually somewhere where you can't watch it closely.

Its still a mystery, He hasnt a UTI. I got him checked out at the vets. And we dont have any areas under the house where cats can get into. We do however have a neighbours cat who sits outside the front room window, but the next door cat has lived here over 14 years.
