This afternoon my friend in Ballarat Australia said Yuck when I told her about Black-Eyed Peas, but what does she know! All she ever wants to eat are Prawns, or hamburgers with fried eggs and beet slices on them, or black burnt toast with vegemite on it. [Razz] [scaredy] [Big Grin]

Remember the Brit com "The Vicar of Dibley" and the jokes about the character who was about as exciting as a prawn sandwich? She was also as dumb as "two planks held together with stupid glue". Never thought of prawns as very appealing after that, and I agree with afgrey - vegemite is a synonym for gross.

I have never eaten vegemite. Myra, my Australian friend, thinks peanut butter and jelly together on a sandwich is gross. But we both LOVE peanut M&M's.

Merme...you need not worry a bit about having to eat vegemite....it is NOT popular here at all. It is a dark brown EXTREMELY salty paste that is made with a yeast base known mainly in Australia. I haven't ever (and probably wont EVER) tasted vegemite...but I have heard many say that it is next to horrid. I think the Australians even thin it down a bit with butter or something to weaken it...and then put it on bread. If I am thinking on the right tract...it is loaded with vitamins...a very powerful amount of them. bottom line...it's some bad poo~kie!!!

Doughnuts and taco salad, no sense in changing bad habits just because it's a new year.

If anyone is dying to sample vegimite I would be glad to ship you some from our local international farmers market (Harry's in Marietta, GA) but it's a waste of time - just open a vitamin capsule and cover it with coffee and salt, smear it on some bread and it's aprox the same taste.
