Purple Finch information

Range: Erratic winter visitors across the southeast except Florida.

Habitat: Open Woodlands and suburbs. putting hair and wool out for them will attract them to your yard and help them pad their nests. Prefer to nest in conifer trees, on horizontal branches.

Food and plants that will attract Purple Finches to your yard: Weeds and grasses, a variety of tree seeds, blackberry and raspberry bushes. They will come to feeders for Black Oil Sunflower, millet, and small grains.
