Merme was wondering what I was knitting the other day.
Well... I was looking for something I could take to the hospital to keep me occuppied while Don was having his nose surgery.

Unfortunately, the surgery DID NOT happen, due to arguing with the drs' office staff over signing a waiver the morning of surgery, that he would be responsible for ALL PAYMENTS if our insurance did not cover it!!! This should have been taken care of weeks before surgery - not THE DAY OF!!! [Mad] Don was so upset over the wording of the waiver, and the pressure that he was feeling from the office manager, that he called it off for that day, and is now going through Pre-authorization from the insurance company so he knows everything right up front.

OK THEN... getting back to my knitting... PHEW! [perplexed]
I wanted something very portable -
not another large afghan - plus something that I could finish sooner than later -
UNLIKE THAT AFGHAN! [Razz]
I had printed out a cute pawprint pattern for a dishcloth last year, and was trying to think of something I could do with that - I don't use dishcloths. AHA!!! I found several different, cute patterns for dishcloths online, and am making a patchwork pillow of them for Amy. I tried to find patterns that had a connection to things she likes - so far I have 6 different ones - not too bad!

I was anxious to start, even though I wouldn't be doing it while sitting in the waiting room for hours on end, so here are the first 2 that I finished last night. I haven't washed or blocked them yet...

 -

 -

OK - you might be wondering why the background - our blanket - is 2 different colors? My cheapo camera keeps taking the heart one with colors other than the true ones, so to make the yarn the right color, the background turned blue - VERY ODD! The real blanket color is behind the musical notes.

Merme - I keep thinking of you while knitting this, because of your peridot thread yesterday!

Lynne how big is each panel and where did you find patterns? I think your dragonfly block would have been a cool dish cloth for that set.

Wrennie - I just noticed your post, sorry for not responding quicker.

The dishcloths measure about 8 square inches - depending on how tightly you knit, and the yarn you use.

Here's a link to the dragonfly pattern:

And a link to a page with numerous dishcloth patterns:

Enjoy - can't wait to see pictures!

I thought I'd share my latest project.
I've just completed 5 other baby projects, which I'll post after they have been received, and wanted to make something a little different.

Can you believe that this bunny is made out of one 8 inch square?!?
The trick is in the sewing - a bit challenging, but the end result was worth it,
I think!

 -

 -

Now for my dilema... I want/need to make a tail, but anything I'm coming up with can be pulled apart by a toddler - this is going to an 18 month old - any ideas???
 -

(the color is a bit off, but you get the idea...)

Do you know how to crochet??? You could crochet a circle and then gather it in from the last round to make it poofy. You could even use a fuzzy yarn.
I can crochet it if you want & mail it down.

Ya know... I haven't crocheted since I was a teen - another lifetime ago!!!
I keep meaning to ask my mom to show me, but forget when I see her.
I do have some websites with videos that I might try!

Thanks for your great idea and offer Wrennie! [kissies]
I'll see what I can do - I want to give it to our great niece on Monday when we see them.

Well... I took Wrennie's advice, and knit a small tail.
I got some REALLY SOFT Lion's brand "velvet spun" chenille, and Lion's fun fur, and knit 3 rows of knit stitch. I ended up rolling it lengthwise and sewing it together.

 -

 -

It's not the softest tail - I think the fun fur restricted the chenille from being as soft as it could be, and I'm not totally thrilled with it, but it was the prototype, if you know what I mean.

Also - I DO NOT RECOMMEND using the fun fur - the little pieces pull out of it very easily, and I'm not happy about that for babies. I tried to pull out as many as I could, and then cut the rest short so hopefully they won't be able to be pulled. I won't be using it in the next tail at all.

I love the feel of the fun fur. I didnt know it pulled out so easily. Now I do.
Makes for a very soft scarf

Wrennie - I LOVE LOVE LOVE your scarves - saw your purple one too!

I also made several fun fur scarves 2 winters ago - used it alone, and they were ultra soft. I never noticed any of the pieces pulling out either - I wonder if they've changed the way it's being manufactured? This skein definitely pulls out with ease, so I won't use it for babies anymore.

Here are 2 scarves I had made from fun fur alone:

The purple one was crocheted this tan/neutral is knit. The yarn is the fur and 'dot' yarn in one. I like the way it lays much better in knit.

Those all fur look soooo soft. Pretty!
