Hello and Happy Holidays
I found this forum while searching for Boston Fern care. I'm excited to find a gardening forum.
I'm sure I will recieve some wonderful gardening advise in the future. [wavey]
I am 36 and a amature gardener. I love outside gardening I have no house plant experience. I am married with 2 teen boys. My husband loves to grow vegetables and my youngest son likes to help.
I recently got 2 huge boston ferns out of my churches dumpster and would like to keep them inside till summer time. I know how to care for a fern outside however I have no experience with inside plants so any advise is welcome. The soil is dry, the foliage is green but dry and the plant is slightly root bound. they are planted in 8" pots and likely need to be divided.

most house plants like to be rootbound. If it is dry it does need watering and probably a good twenty minute soak to start with. That way you know it has been saturated. Boston fern like it humid so you will probably want to rig up some kind of humidity tray for them. They will take a reasonable shady spot not needing any direct sunlight. Hope this helps.
