Hi All , The last two weeks I went from one occasional hummer at the feeder to four crazy birds . One male and three females, he must be some type of rock star from the way they all go ga-ga over him . It appears that as one stops by for some eats, the other two to three fly by and they all take off after each other . Almost like a bunch of kittens playing with each other. Are they playing or fighting? Should I put up another feeder and how far from this one should it be? Its great to watch and hear them chatter at each other, but I want to be helpful if possible . Thanks

No kidding! Last year I had to literally separate two of them. They were fighting, and one flew into the door. When it hit the ground, the other one jumped right on it...right on the ground. I ran outside and scooped them both up before the cat saw them. I had to pull the one off the other one and then turn it loose. While I still had the addled one in my hand, the other one came right back and started fighting with it...while I was still holding it. I sheltered it from the mean one for a few seconds so it could get it's senses back, then it flew off...and started fighting again.
When I am working in the area where all the hummingbird feeders are, I get hit in the head quite often by them as they are fighting.
Weird little creatures.....
I just love them!

Oh, those Hummers. No matter how many feeders you put up, they will fight over them. Your right about them being tough. Can you imagine what it would be like if they were as big as Robins?????
