Today is my dad's birthday...most likely the last one he will have. We found out yesterday that he does have cancer.
The wonderful thing about the internet is...I can sit here and post while crying my eyes out...and no one even knows it. I just wasn't ready to even talk about it last night.
I'm getting ready to leave here and go take his birthday present to him...a framed picture of the USS Lake Champlain...the first aircraft carrier he was on (during the Cuban Missile Crisis in the 60's).
I know that I am always in your prayers for one reason or another...and now I would like for you to please pray that I don't start crying in front of my dad today. ...maybe tomorrow or the next day...but just not today.
Thank you, friends.....
Cindy

It really did mean a lot to me...and I was so scared, because I had cried all morning thinking about this probably being my dad's last birthday. I knew if I cried, he would start crying, too...and it would have really ruined everything. As it turned out, it was a happy time.

Cindy, I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. You're an amazingly strong woman, so of course you didn't cry when you needed not to, and that strength will help you get through this, too. And there are about 8000 people here to listen whenever you need to talk or vent...

Afgrey ~ just wanted to let you know that my entire church prayed for your dad and your whole family this morning. We will continue to do so every step of the way.
And, as Geegeeburr pointed out, your Garden Helper family will not let go of you, either.

Cindy... I am so sorry to hear about your dad, I understand what you are feeling, as my mom is in a simular situtation, she has a fatal blood disorder and the doctor just told her that he would be surprised if she made it another year. She has been recieving blood transfusions to survive, she was getting them every 3 weeks and now it is every 2 weeks. So you know you are not alone, we are all behide you & beside you & you are in our prayers.

Comfrey... though I don't "pray" per se, as most know here, I will be thinking of you and your family as you go through this journey with your mom, as well as Cindy's dad, and Jimmy's mom too.

lynne, your good thoughts are what you do best. we all have our own way of doing things, and for those of us who "pray", even those vary so much that sometimes, folks who call themselves praying aren't doing it the way others think they should! (i'm usually one of the ones doing it "wrong" ) but, you are a good friend, and i know that your good thoughts for comfrey and cindy will go as far as my prayers!
and cindy and comfrey, you both truly have my prayers... losing a parent is one of the hardests bridges of adulthood to cross... but there are many on the other side to help you along the way, and one day, you will round a corner and it will be bearable again...
