You know, even Maxi's very splendid Yamaha electronic keyboard, with it's 500 believable sounds all programed, still just doesn't cut it for me. I think it has 7 or 8 "piano" settings and it still just sounds electronic in a way that a real piano never does. But interestingly enough, the "human voice" is RATHER realistic!

Oh by the way, that is also my gripe about many CD's ... the "orchestra" in the background is electronic!
I think in terms of the piano, the electronic, synthesized sound loses the resonance of the real thing... all those undertones that make a piano keyboard sound so rich.

Hi there, Cinja Martha Stewart Wannabe!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and all my friends down south!
OK, gotta ask....Why would you wannabe Martha Stewart? I've been slaving away in the kitchen for 2 days now getting a head start on Xmas baking. The baking is kind of fun but those dishes! ....The dog can't keep up!

No comparison at all...there's nothing like the sound of a real piano. But, an electronic keyboard is a good thing to have if you don't have room for a baby grand...and you can learn how to play it...then when you get a piano...you'll already be half way there!

We do enjoy Maxi's big electronic keyboard. And, Yamaha is a reputable brand. But I somehow miss the fullness of sound one gets with a real piano.
He likes the keyboard too for it's very many sound effects. He writes stories and then beefs 'em up by adding the sound of footsteps, of screams, or underwater and outer space noises...
He has a ball being a DJ.
Plus, as big as his keyboard is, it is still portable.

We're going to see Nuno Bettencourt of the former "Extreme" group play tonight at a small private club in our hometown, where Nuno grew up as well and hung out with my sister colleen.
Does anyone remember extreme? "More than words", "Hole-hearted", "Flight of the wounded bumblebee" "Decadance" , "When I'm President" ,"Get the funk out"
Nuno was the genius lead guitarist and wrote almost all the songs.
