You can buy these little wooden boxes at WallyWorld for 99 cents. They are unfinished, so you stain them whatever color you want. I use acrylic paint (artist) in tubes, just a tiny bit in some water. That way, I can get the colors I want...like the purple one. These aren't finished...I just started them. The one on the left is for my mom (It says "Road's End Farm" on it, that's the name of my mom's farm!), and the purple one will be for Rachel...flowers decoupaged on it, and flower seeds tucked inside!
Pretty good present for a dollar!

Here's another good CHEAP present... Cover a small (6") wreath with potpourri. I use homemade wreaths I make from weeping willow, but you can buy little wreaths from Wal-Mart for less than a dollar. Cover the top and sides with potpourri using a hot glue gun. (ouch!) Glue a ribbon on it, and maybe a few dried flowers if you have them.
When you wrap it, make sure to put it in a plastic bag sealed up, so when the recipient opens it, they get a burst of fragrance from the potpourri!

Oh, I had to laugh at the opening line for this thread because at this time of year I am a wild woman, certifiably insane, because of too many crafting ideas and not enough time.
It's hard to draw the stopping line, I think. Tonight I got sidetracked crocheting Victorian covers for Candy Canes, of all things....by the time I made a mad dash back to the slippers I'm working on for Maxi, it was already 11 PM.
And by the way, did ya know that although Cindy uses acrylic tube paint to stain her lovely boxes, you can also use liquid fabric dye applied with a clean, cloth for a very soft looking hue? I did Maxi's unfinished rocking chair that way a few years ago because he wanted RED (of course, it is his favorite color!) but I didn't want a garish hue on the beautiful chair. It turned out really well, too.
