Weezie,
How does he get the lights on the tree? We have a pine tree that is about 90 feet tall and I'd love to put lights on it!!

I've often wondered that myself... [dunno]
It is such a pain in the butt to even put lights on a SMALL tree! Up the ladder, down the ladder, move the ladder... [Razz] I hate ladders. I always forget where I am and just step off of it... [nutz] [lala]

Jenn, if you end up with lights on that big, tall tree of yours, I want to see a picture of it all lit up. [thumb]

Love your button!

hummmm...I'll have to dig up some of those Mississippi river shots. I live about 25 miles from it. I'll have to scan those in.

this is just rain water, it looks deeper than it is, my dog goes through there all the time, only about ankle deep.

The rain backs up here from down the road. They need to clean the drainage ditches out, this is from no one living here for so long. (been about 20 years since any one lived here) It's better now than it was, water use to stand ankle deep in my yard.

That's sorta what happens with my yard...
When it rains really hard, really fast, it runs
down the road, and of course water goes to the lowest point, yeah, you guessed it, MY YARD!!!
What happens is, as the rain runs down the road, and it runs over the top of my moms' driveway and my driveway, *We have a split rail fence between the two properties..* and it takes the route of the fence, right under in, *which I have some privet and some flowers, which gets drowned often*
and then it travels the side of her garage and an area of my yard and then it cuts over to the right immediately and then runs a diagoanlly path over to the other side of my yard..right to the corner of my husbands shed and then under the swingset..
And that's why I say it's a river, how it snakes down thru the property...
And it's the same like you said, ankle (lower~shin) deep.
I have pictures of my oldest running his tracker thru it, rooster tailing the water behind and to the side of him, he's going so fast and he's soppin' wet....*his favorite thing to do [Big Grin] *

I got some spots that get washed out too, but the flowers are so pretty there when they make it, so I plant them knowing if I get a big rain they'll be gone.

Here's the view from my backyard....I love the mountains.....I can just picture a group of Indians sitting up at the top on their horses where the clump of trees are....We're in a valley so we're surrounded by mountains like this. This is what I can see while sitting on my back porch.

 -

The birdhouse was our creation last summer. I painted it all, my hubby made it....it even has a 100 percent copper roof, and copper gutters on the other side......

Nice bird house. I've thought about doing some bird houses but I'd feel bad if the cats got to them. So I just let them find homes on their own.

it's all flat here next to the mississippi river. then as you go west from the river it gets hilly then you reach the ozarks.

we spent (was 2 summers ago now) the whole summer up at PA drove there because I will not fly. Went through the edge of MD on the way up there.

okay this was a cotton field before they picked it, across the road from me. But you can see how flat it is here. -

Thanks....that isn't a good shot of the birdhouse though....I'll have to dig up a better one later......We have tons of stray cats around here too......They drive me crazy. I literally chased 2 out of my yard the other day in my robe and slippers....went running down through the grass with the broom to scare them....my neighbors probably think I'm quite strange....but my birds were feeding and they were not about to eat one of my birds!!!! [Mad]

I've never been to arkansas, but when we went to Michigan it was sooooooo flat......You know, I never realized how much I love the mountains until we left them behind......but it works both ways.....my sisters ex husband didn't like the mountains when they came here from MI......he said it made him claustrophobic....

Hubby travels alot with his job, sometimes me and Ashley go, sometimes we don't just depends on time of year and what's going on. I don't like leaving the house for very long in the winter.

I guess like the old saying goes, there's no place like home. I've never been to a place yet that I'd want to stay and live there, always ready to get back home.

You're right about that Belinda....even if you stay at a four star hotel on vacation it's always nice to be back home again--to sleep in your own bed. One of these days(way down the road) I'd love to be able to buy a big comfy motorhome and travel........as long as we didn't have to drive through tornado alley I'd be okay....lol

Did you see that story on TV where a tornado hit an RV park up north sdomewhere. (I'm thinking it was right in the edge of Canada somewhere) just tore everything up.

That's the one thing I don't care for with the RV and seems like everytime we go somewhere in it, it storms and at 2 am we have to jump outside and put the canopy up, even when we went to El Paso, TX in it and they told us they only get rain 3 to 4 times a year, sure got it while we were there. Must have got pretty rough that nite, these people who were across the lot had a really nice motor home and didn't take their canopy in, it was tore off and laying on the ground the next morning.
