I am SO PSYCHED! that my pal Horsenut found her way to the forum!!! You guys are gonna love her as much as I do!
Remember I told you that an on-line friend had managed the information email list when I was so desperately sick last year? Well, she's the gal who did that, in the enormously efficient way that only Teresa has. Efficiency and style -- ya gotta love it!
Come back soon, Horsenut. Merme

AW pshaw, Merme you go an say all those nice things about me and make me blush! Seriously, I got your e-mail this morning but I'm swamped here at work. I was off sick yesterday so I'm doing double duty today. I'll try to call you tonight but don't wait up on me because we have to get the Christmas tree up tonight so it'll be busy there too!

Mel came down to my town early this morning and put our tree up for us, including figuring out how to make the new Angel stand upright on top. The tree looks great! and Maxi is going to be so pleased when he gets home. He can hang all his beloved ornaments he didn't even get to see last year.
She and my attendant put together my large dining table in the place I wanted it to be, so now we have a real dining room too. Next is to just get the TV moved into the new family room and this place will be more accessable for my wheelchair.
And yes, Mel and I talked our jaws off. I'm hoarse. What else would two women do who spend so much time gabbing on-line? In person, you know we just couldn't stop.
She's a wonderful lady (with such pretty hair!) and I'm so glad for this forum that let me meet all of you.

I know. I am excited about the whole thing. It was a very pleasant day. She had to drive a few hours to get here after getting the little ones off to school, then had to get home again to retrieve them off the bus. Lots of driving to do for a visit. Nice of her. Nice, too, to be so helpful!
Any chance you stopping by for tea, kid?

Oh, G-mom, he was so thrilled with that tree! We had the best time hanging all his favorite ornaments on it together. Especially happy for him since he didn't even get to see his collection last year...
So before bedtime, he sat at the dining table beside the tree and made bead-and-wire ornaments for his dad's tree, and then made a few more for ours.
He is particularly pleased because the new Angel topper is dressed in RED, his favorite color.
A tradition in our family concerns "the children's tree". Each year, we were given a small tree of our very own that we could decorate however we wanted; it was a tree we could play with, decorating and undecorating it 50 times a day if we had a mind to. In this way, we left "the big tree" alone and never went near all the very breakable ornaments and HOT lights. Plus, we each had our own ornaments that were ours to take when we grew up and left home.
I've carried that tradition out with Maxi. He was 2 months old his first Christmas, and I got him his very own tree that I decorated with pacifiers and rattles and small stuffed toys. Now his little tree sits on the kitchen counter and he plays with it all the time, making all sorts of tiny things to hang on it. But his collection of real ornaments is on the big tree, kept safely for him.
I can't tell you clearly enough how wonderful it is to see my son relieved and happy this year, his difficult and frightening ordeal over. There are still occasionally "aftershocks" from all he went through because of my long illness, but in general he's been restored to his sunny self.
