I have been very busy working and skiing on my free time so I didn't have much time to check back here. However yesterday, before the snow started falling again, I noticed that my crocuses have made an appearance and that the tulips and daffodils are starting to grow. I guess spring is on the way. I will still be skiing late into May but plan on clearing the garden in the middle or late April when it looks like the weather will be a littler warmer. I have bought some calla lilies that I can't wait to plant. I need to clear out some daylilies to make room for them though.

Luvgardening, How are you???? How's everything?? I had wondered about you?
SKIIIIING?????????? Oh, sounds like FUN!!!! I used to ski (BC~Before Children ) I'd love to get back to it! I love those nights, when it's mild and it's snowing just a little, and the smell in the air....and I say to myself, "Tonight would be a nice night to go hit the slopes!!!) Thanks for the memories!!! We just got 12" of snow a couple of days ago!!! Lot's of shoveling, but I love the snow cover still for the plants, but my bulbs are peaking out too!!
Good to hear from you!! Thanks for stopping and letting us know!

I also have children - a 6 year old and a 3 year old. They both ski. My son is quite good and he will surpass me when he gets older. You should try skiing again and introduce your kids to the sport too. It is a great thing to do in the winter months. This way I enjoy all my seasons.

Luvgardening, Not that I wouldn't LOVE to for the boys, but $$ prevents me!! When I get back to work when the wee~one goes to Kindergarten, I'll see what we can swing.... Daddy's going to get them into roller skating, he's VERY GOOD at it, but he hasn't done that in a few years either.. We went for boyscouts a couple of weeks ago, and it was fun!!! I did get to go to Vermont skiing one time!! What FUN that was!! A very big hill!!! I have never seen a mountain where you couldn't see the top of it here where I live, it was absolutely AMAZING to see that. Gave me goose bumbs looking up at it, "I'm like, you ain't getting me up that hill" (*I don't ski that great! We did the first day, I was beyond~beyond!! I snow plowed the whole way down. I went acrossed the street the next day over to the bunny slope *which is the size of our regular ski~slopes here* and had a blast !!!! Lot's of Hot Chocolate, Bailey's, skiing, and Hot Tubs, and good food, and lot's of nice people we went with!!!!!
Gotta win that darn MEGA LOTTERY!!!! Anyone win that out your way??? Someday!!!

I got to get out in the garden today, very nice morning... Although it got very chilly in the early afternoon, and started to drizzle, that bone chillin' rain... So, I got tired of the mud and went inside. I talk with Plants~n~Pot's and her weather is usually a day behind me here..... So you should have a nice day tomorrow!!!

It's easy to get caught up doing other stuff....seems like there just aren't enough hours in the day at times......
Skiing sounds like fun, I've never went but my hubby used to work making snow at a local ski resort years ago.....I still can't picture him skiing, but he swears he can.....lol To be honest with you I tend to be kind of clumsy.....I'm 5'10" you would think that would make me graceful maybe, but nope....not me, I'd probably hurt myself skiing ....lol
My crocuses are coming up too, actually I need to go walk down and check them out.....it's nice and warm here today--around 60!!!! So, I'm heading out here in a few to go do a little cleaning up in the garden.
Glad to see you back!!!!

Where in Vermont did you go to ski? I ski at Killington and through the Killington chat room I have met many persons and have become very good friends with many of them. Some of the younger members of the group call me the mother of the chat room because I am good at organizing on the mountain meetings and social functions. I love getting people together to have a good time.
Loz,
Thanks for welcoming me back. It is very warm here in NYC today as well. I am working and I have not had time to get out there to enjoy the sunshine. It is also quite warm up in VT and my friends tell me that will mean that our beloved snow will start melting soon. I love to have snow in Vermont that I can ski on and flowers growing in my garden down here in Long Island. It is the best of both worlds for me. I will have to start cleaning the garden sometime soon. I just want to wait a little longer to make sure there are no more freezing days. The way the weather has gone this winter with mild temperatures one week and deep feezing temperatures the next, you never know what the spring will be like. Wait and see I guess.

Luvgardening, I am directionally and name challenged somedays!!
Okay, I'm driving from here to there, which one's first, I think Killington is first, what's the one, next in line from that one????
As we were driving there, we saw the one first, That's the one when I looked up (driving down the road) the top of the mountain was in the clouds... We drove past that one, and got to the next one... Any ideas????
There was a big mountain with a tram, and then acrossed the street was the bunny slopes of sorts. (Big as our slopes would be here).
This is going to drive me until I remember now!!!

If you are driving from NY and you are on Route 4 the first mountain you come to is Pico which is part of Killington and the next one is Killington but you have to go up the access road to get to it. Killington has terrain for every level of skier. It has bunny slopes, intermediate and it has double black diamond runs too. It has a total of 6 peaks that you can ski. Is this where you went?

Luvgardening, I wouldnt stake my life on it, because it was so many years ago, but I would have to say it was Killington if it's the second one. And there were several black diamond courses'!!! I remember seeing the double diamonds, they ended up taking me down the one diamonds and luckily I am not a total novice to skiing, been skiing since I was 9, but I got down by the ole basic snow plow mostly, I am NOT a black diamond skier!! I should back the story up a bit, my boyfriend at the time was a ski instructor to a local ski resort here, and I went with him when they went to get I believe the term is recertivified or something, to be able to teach....And there was like 12 of us total, and 10 of them were ski instructor's and I went with them as a mini vacation... I think they thought it would be funny to see me struggle the whole way down, well, I tell you the ride up was more adventurous! And what scared me was, there was only one other girl that went with us up the hill, and she supposedly had been there before, and the first thing off the tram she does, is trip and fall and bends her thumb right back to the top of her wrist, and I don't think it's suppose to bend that way and it was instant, black, blue, red, green, every other shade in between, and it swelled up like a puffer fish!!! It was huge, and she cracked her knee... they tram rode her down, and this was in March time when it's always iffy on the skiing conditions due to weather conditions, well, at the top it was so cold and the rain was coming down and icing over the ski googles, I wear glasses and luckily I'd had my contacts on, but it was stinging your face so bad. And the slope was those ice granular's that are slippery and sticky at the same time, so it wasn't optimal conditions, anyways, end result after my harrowing *sp* experience down, (**I didn't fall once though** ) I met up with the girl that hurt herself in the bar and her and I got blastered together!! Had a great time!! Went skiing on the bunny slope acrossed the street *which like I said was equivelant to our regular slopes over here* and had a great time!!
But going down, was an experience for me!! I remember thinking, "Well, this is another fine mess you've gotten us into"
The hot tubs and the shopping made up for it, everything was on clearance and got a $300.00 skiing jacket for like $50.00... that thing was so warm, still have it!!! Got two of them while I was there, and my oldest boy is almost ready to get into it (*I used to be smaller than small*BC*) Awesome place, had a great time!!!!
