Hello everyone! I am a new gardener, although I am only 16 and have much of my life to go.
I would like to start off by saying thank you to the owners and administrators of this site, because they helped me make an informed decision on my first plant. (I'll talk about him soon)
My interest in plants was brought out by my English teacher, Mr. Johnson (If you're somehow reading this, hi!). In his classroom he has many, many plants. A short list is: several spathiphylla, english ivy, an asparagus fern, norfolk pine, a HUGE phylidenron he brought in on a hand-truck, and several other I can't begin to identify.
After I realized my interest in plants from him, I came across this website and was able to decide to purchase my baby boy: my snake plant. I decided to start small, with a plant that is hard to kill. I've had it for two weeks now and have done absolutely nothing to it, and new growth is already visible. Each leaf has a good 2cm of growth!! My lil boy is growing up *sob*.
My room gets *some* light, but not a lot, another factor that brought me to him. If all goes well, I plan on expanded my houseplant collection in the near future. I have my eye on small varieties of spathiphyllum, asparagus fern, and maybe even some kind of forest cactus.
Anyway, enough rambling, I need to go put dinner on. Hopefully I'll be talking with you all soon!
