I'm from Manhattan and new to this forum. I've finally made the transformation from someone with a reputation for killing plants to one who's known for taking in unwanted ones and keeping them happy.
Presently I have in my little apartment a few philodendrons, a really tall "snake" plant, a spider plant survivor from my old killing days, and a fat and happy ficus which I'm very proud of.
Unfortunately, the cats ate the jasmine.
Glad to be here!

Hello Cityplants Welcome to The Garden Helpers Forum!!!! Another New Yorker!! Glad to have you on board!! I was very pleased to read your post, about coming over to the plant saving side!!! I think Jiffy will be happy to hear that statement too, we like to make sure our little plants survive, especially after someone has neglected or abused them. (or may not on purpose, but just the lack of knowledge or where to find help!!) We have a few other's that have plants follow them home too!!! So, you'll fit in nicely!!!
We have alot of great gardeners here, Master Gardeners, brand~new gardeners, and everything in between... They are alllllllllllll very nice, great to talk with and true friendships are formed here...
So, check out the site, go check out our new sections and post a recipe or check out the craftsa and hobbies, there's banter hall for chatting and games area to keep us maniac gardeners busy while we're getting ready for spring! There's all sorts of good reading on all the sections here,... feel free to bring any post back up and ask questions or post an answer that you know, my motto is, "It only takes one Gardener to know the answer and that one may be you!"
We also have a few NY'er's already, We have Will Creed, and Plants~n~Pots, TomR, Luvgardening, GARDENERELLY~just joined a few days ago....... We tryin' to out number the Californians here!! (Little rivalery between me a Karen(Catlover by the way)........to see who can get more from their state...I think she's winnin' though )
Anyways, there's lot's of houseplant gardeners here, and catlover's, so you'll have alot in common with many of our members right off the bat!!
Happy Gardening!! Weezie

Weezie/ Cityplants New York Loz your not helping matters lol....Just kidding!!! A friendly family feud I have a ? for you... is it a New York thing to have the Weezie's or is that position held just for my dear friend Weezie? LOL Can you tell Weezie and I have fun with this joking????
But since you have cats....then your forgiven for living in New York. How many kitty kids do you have? and what kind? I've got 5 monsters that own me!!!
I'm one of those less experienced gardeners Jiffy was speaking of.Ha Ha.....I am always asking ?'s....and clarifying things...hey the only way to learn!!! When I get things wrong... Jiffy is right there to straighten me out!!!! It's great.
I'm also a cactophile and Bill as well as Hollywood and Jillie are contributing to my obsession! Ha Ha
Have a great time here and ask away....not that I'll be able to answer anything...but am here to give everybody a little smile!!! Catlover

Not wanting them to be the only member of their species in the household, I have two Siamese-esque cats--a brother and sister. Indeed, he does chow down on the spider plant.
I have a technical question: how do you get the instant graemlins into a message? I lucked out with and but that's all I know.
Thanks a bunch!

...... but be sure to never use more than 8 images in a message! Sometimes that will cause your message to warp into a different dimension, and be lost forever....

Hey Weezie~ I'm here for support!!! I've been accused more than a few times of talking too much... beginning way back in elementary school - can't remember how many times I was sent out in the hall for talking to my friends too much (who me? ). I even made a comic for our 6th grade graduation booklet about it - it was the first thing I ever got "published"!
Oh, and a hearty WELCOME!!! to Cityplants!!! So glad to have another New Yawker here to help weigh down our side of things!

Hello! I'm just new to gardening and stumbled across this wonderful place with all of it's wonderful people. We have cats....quite a few. 3 that live inside the house (Coho, Thumbs, and Snot) and 1 that lives outside named Puss-wah...she came with the house when we bought it. Coho and Thumbs are tiger cats and Snot is a tortoise shell. Puss-wah looks to be some kind of persian. My husband says I'm not aloud to bring anymore home...and I'm soo good at finding them!!!! So now I just give them to friends when I find them.
